A little bit about myself...
I'm a painter based in upstate New York. I have a sweet little studio at the edge of my garden on my property located in the woodlands on a dead end road where the only traffic that passes are the whitetail deer, wild turkeys, bunnies, squirrels and my four cats. I've always loved creating artwork, and after the tragic loss of my mother, I decided to dedicate myself full time to this passion/obsession. My professional career started as a faux painter and muralist and slowly transitioned into painting full time in my studio. Initially my preferred medium was oil, but now my focus is mostly on acrylic and mixed media. I love to incorporate bits and pieces of history by including antique ephemera which adds another layer and level of interest to the work. Painting on canvas is certainly a part of my process, but my real passion is in using antique frames, old door panels and found wood boards. There's already so much history and interest in these found objects which become part of the unique story of each painting. My inspiration comes from the innocence of animals, the magic of Halloween and fresh fallen snow as well as fond childhood memories of days gone by as is reflected in my dreamy moon paintings. Some viewers smile, some cry and some are simply mesmerized. While most people can't wait for the weekend, I can't wait for Monday mornings so I can get back to creating. I have more ideas for paintings than I have time left on this planet to paint them, even if I live to be 100. I think about my paintings almost all my waking hours and thank God everyday that this is my life! |
